It was a wonderful day for a parade! On Saturday November 10th, the 2nd annual Kingston Road Parade took place, starting at Victoria Park and winding up at Community Centre 55 on Main Street. With the sunny weather, it didn’t exactly feel seasonal, but then again, who wants to stand around in the freezing cold anyway?
This year saw even more businesses and organizations taking part, plus the obligatory local politicians, Maria Minna and Sandra Bussin. A nice addition was a float carrying the present and past winners of the beaches ‘Citizen of the Year’, who received one of the louder cheers from the crowds lining the street. There was plenty of music along the route including the crowd favourite, Malvern Collegiate Marching Band. As if your kids hadn’t got enough candy over Halloween, the treats were flying fast and furious.
There were plenty of other treats to be had with The Pastry Shop and Savoury Grounds selling hot chocolate outside their stores and other stores holding small sidewalk sales.
The community really seemed to pull together for this parade and the efforts the folks at Community Centre 55 were greatly appreciated by all.
I look forward to next years parade….we may not be as big as the ‘Santa Claus Parade’ but our enthusiasm certainly is!
