A new business opened on our stretch of Kingston Road is ‘Night and Day Window Decor’. Located at the corner of Kingswood and Kingston (formerly ‘Cast Your Anchors’) the Night and Day retail space provides a gallery setting for the company’s previous ’shop-at-home’ business. Showcasing the latest fashions in custom window coverings, the store is a welcome addition to our eclectic mix of stores.

I know it’s off the beaten path a little. But if you want great Indian food then you have to step out of  the village. Kalyani Indian Cuisine is located at 1433 Kingston Road just west of Warden on the south side. It is a family run business that is operated by a former chef at the Royal York Hotel. They have a hot table with a few items ready to go, or if you have a little time they will make you anything off of  their full and very affordable menu. Fresh coffee delivered to your home or office.

You can now have fresh roasted coffee delivered to your home or office. Savoury Grounds now has a coffee bean delivery service. You can now go online and pick  both your choice of beans and what type of grind you need and Savoury Grounds will roast and then deliver them to you the next day. With your choice of regular and Fair-Trade organic coffees it makes having fresh roasted coffee easy. Until March 28, 50 cents from each pound will be donated to WWF and Earth Hour. The long awaited Close to the Bone butcher shop has finally opened it’s doors. It was a soft opening and we were told that they will be fully stocked by the weekend. It has a beatiful decor with old schoolhouse style lighting, great bins filled with veggies and a counter that the kids will enjoy. We wish them all the best.

Say ‘Hello’ to Ciao Bella!

Announcement – A charming new store recently opened in the Upper Beaches. Ciao Bella, located at 986A Kingston Road (three blocks west of Victoria Park Avenue by Kingswood), offers a wide variety of beautiful and unique internationally-sourced and locally crafted jewellery, great fashion accessories, gift items and more.

The store also sells a wide selection of hand-made Murano glass jewellery and silk scarves from Italy, hand-made necklaces, bracelets, earrings, wallets, scarves and purses made by local artisans, as well as pearl, crystal, shell and costume jewellery, home decor items and much more.

The proprietor, Sonya Deevy, has been selling her unique selection of fashion accessories at a variety of indoor and outdoor shows and private home parties for the past four years, and has now opened her first store in order to showcase all of her wonderful wares in one location.

Lations Update

Since the post regarding the closure of Lations Fitness, we have since learned that the owners of the company are planning on refunding any membership fees as soon as they can. Kudos to them for not acting like so many other fitness clubs!
