I Had the Chicken!

Posted in Restaurant Reviews with tags , , , , on November 27, 2007 by KingstonReview

The other night I decided to try out the Green Dragon. I ordered the wings as well as their half chicken. The wings were nice and plump with a nice sauce on them. The rotisserie half chicken was nicely seasoned and cooked just right. No mashed potatoes that night so I had the fries instead. They were the thick hand cut style which had nice flavour. I look forward to trying the ribs and mashed potatoes next time.

Kingston Road Kicks Off the Season!

Posted in Home with tags , , , on November 13, 2007 by feester

It was a wonderful day for a parade! On Saturday November 10th, the 2nd annual Kingston Road Parade took place, starting at Victoria Park and winding up at Community Centre 55 on Main Street. With the sunny weather, it didn’t exactly feel seasonal, but then again, who wants to stand around in the freezing cold anyway?
This year saw even more businesses and organizations taking part, plus the obligatory local politicians, Maria Minna and Sandra Bussin. A nice addition was a float carrying the present and past winners of the beaches ‘Citizen of the Year’, who received one of the louder cheers from the crowds lining the street. There was plenty of music along the route including the crowd favourite, Malvern Collegiate Marching Band. As if your kids hadn’t got enough candy over Halloween, the treats were flying fast and furious.

There were plenty of other treats to be had with The Pastry Shop and Savoury Grounds selling hot chocolate outside their stores and other stores holding small sidewalk sales.
The community really seemed to pull together for this parade and the efforts the folks at Community Centre 55 were greatly appreciated by all.
I look forward to next years parade….we may not be as big as the ‘Santa Claus Parade’ but our enthusiasm certainly is!

Cheesey New Store on Kingston Road!

Posted in Home with tags on October 31, 2007 by feester

Sometimes being cheesy can be a good thing! ‘The Art of Cheese’ made it’s debut here on Kingston Road a few weeks ago and is already proving to be a most welcome addition to tArt of Cheesehe strip. The proprietors, Larry and Bill, overlook the gourmet array of dairy delights and are both enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the cheeses they carry. In addition to the cheese selection, the store offers a variety of spreads, oils, breads and other deli items, all designed to add to the gastronomic experience. With the festive season approaching, it is the perfect place to go for a custom gift basket, or maybe a gourmet platter for your holiday event. The store is open 11am-7pm Tuesday thru Saturday and 11am-4pm Sunday and is located at 925 Kingston Road. so drop in, sample some wares and say ‘hi’ to the guys!

Green Dragon now open!

Today is the day that the Green Dragon gets to finally open it’s door. Rotisserie chicken and ribs sound great and the idea of having a new pub on the street is also excellent. Will post more info shortly.

Hello neighbours

Talking to many people, I find that not everyone knows just what is going on in our great little community. New businesses, festivals, school fairs, classifieds and just about anything else that is good to know. I am looking for any feedback to help keep this blog in the know!
